Health Minister JP Nadda inaugurated 71st Session of the World Health Organisation (WHO)Regional Committee for South-East Asia in New Delhi. On September 3, 2018, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri J P Nadda inaugurated the ‘71st Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia,’ in New Delhi.

India’s contribution on the health sector :

  1. Launch of AMRIT Deendayal: ‘Affordable Medicines & Reliable Implants for Treatment’– centres to provide medicines for cancer and cardiovascular disease and cardiac implants at reduced prices.
  2. Launch of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya scheme called ‘Ayushman Bharat’
  3. Launch of AMRIT Deendayal: ‘Affordable Medicines & Reliable Implants for Treatment’– centres to provide medicines for cancer and cardiovascular disease and cardiac implants at reduced prices.
  4. Implementation of the National Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis and target to remove of by 2025(ahead of 2030 set by WHO).
  5. Universal screening for prevention and management of five common NCDs including hypertension, diabetes and three common Cancers of oral cavity, breast and cervix.
  6. Jan Aushadhi (peoples’ medicines) stores for affordable medicine
  7. India would work with member countries on Regional and Global health agenda for common goal of Health for All.
