New Chief Economic Advisor to be chaired by former RBI governor Bimal Jalan select by panel.
On September 8, 2018, the government appointed former Reserve Bank of India governor Bimal Jalan to head panel to select the next Chief Economic Adviser in the finance ministry.
Ministry of Finance:
♦ Union Minister: Shri Arun Jaitley.
♦ Minister of State: P Radhakrishnan, Shiv Pratap Shukla.
i.Economic affairs secretary Subhash Chandra Garg and secretary of the department of personnel and training C Chandramouli will be other members.
ii. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give the final approval
iii. The government is seeking applications for the post after previous CEA Arvind Subramanian resigned from office.
Former CEA Arvind Subramanian resigned from his post before his tenure ended in May 2019. He joined as a visiting professor at Harvard University.
