Himachal Pradesh Government launched RISHTA project

Himachal Pradesh Government on 20 August 2015 launched the Rajiv Gandhi Illuminating Scheme for Hill Town Advancement (RISHTA) project, an efficient smart LED based street lighting project. With this, Himachal Pradesh became the first state in North India to do so.

 

Government launched education loan portal for students seeking loans

On 20 August 2015, Government launched a web-based portal www.vidyalakshmi.co.in for the students seeking educational loans. In order to ensure that no student misses out on higher education due to lack of funds, finance minister in the Union Budget for 2015-16 had proposed to set a fully IT-based Student Financial Aid Authority.

 

Bangladesh received funds from UNFCCC

Bangladesh became 1st country to receive funds from United Nations for Solar Home Systems on 20th August 2015. UN Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) issued 395286 carbon credits to the country.

 

World Humanitarian Day 2015 observed

World Humanitarian Day 2015 observed on 19th August 2015 in all over the World under the theme of ‘Inspiring the World’s Humanity’. Earlier, in the year 2003, the day was designated by UN General Assembly.

Zia Haider Rahman of Bangladesh awarded with James Tait Black Award for the year 2015 on 19th August 2015 for the novel ‘In the Light of What We Know’. The award was instituted in the year 1919.
