Odisha renamed the Wheeler Island after A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

The State Government of Odisha renamed the Wheeler Island after A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Kalam called the island ‘Theatre of Action’. Earlier, in the year 1993 Wheeler Island given away to DRDO on Kalam’s request. At that time, the Chief Minister of Odisha was Biju Patnaiak, now the Chief Minister is Naveen Patnaik. The Island is situated in Bhadrak District. Earlier, the Island named after English Commandant Lieutenant Wheeler.
