The much-touted cloud seeding project of Karnataka took off at Jakkur Airfield on August 22, 2017. The project – named Varshadhare – will be in operation for a period of 60 days. The project will cost Rs 35 crore and is expected to seed clouds in a 20-sq. km area at Magadi. Earlier in 2003, the Karnataka Government had launched Project Varuna under the then Minister for Water Resources H.K. Patil.
